Player Companion/Apprentice Rules

Levels and Skills

Companions get 1 Companion Level per 3 player levels.

Companions have these skills:

  • Strength
  • Dexterity
  • Intelligence
  • Wisdom
  • Charisma

When a companion levels up, they can choose one skill to add a point to.
At level 1, a companion has 3d4 in each of it's skills.

HIt Points

When a companion is attacked, instead of having an armor class, there is a 50/50 chance that the hit on the companion will be lethal. A companion can take 1 lethal hit per companion level until they are knocked unconscious.

Companions don't have classes, instead they can use their skills to learn new actions.

Combat and Actions

Every companion starts with one action, one bonus action, and 30 ft of movement per round.
As a companion is trained (through skill checks and teaching checks) the GM will help decide what extra actions the companion can make in combat.
